Love Spain Fall 2026 Balkan Trek

September 26 - October 12, 2026

Love Albania and the Korce Adventure Center in partnership with Love Spain have collaborated in the preparation of this unique, custom trekking adventure! Join us from September 26 - October 12, 2026 on an epic 17-day trekking adventure on the Peaks of the Balkans trekking loop through north Albania, Kosovo, and Montenegro the first week, followed by a pioneering, exploratory week-long trek in remote southeast Albania the second week.

Participants can sign up either for the full experience, the first week Peaks of the Balkans itinerary only, or the second week southeast Albania experience only. No matter which option you choose you are guaranteed spectacular mountain passes, local culture, natural beauty, and an unforgettable experience in some of the remotest places in the Balkans. We hope you build lasting relationships and cool friendships with other participants on this unique trek! The options are as follows:

• Option 1: Do the full trek in 11 stages. You will need to arrive into Tirana, Albania on Saturday, September 26 by midday, and can depart Albania on either Monday, October 12 or Tuesday, October 13. Registration payment covers costs through breakfast on October 12. The normal routine will be three moderate hiking days followed by a rest day. Light packs (around 26 liters) are enough - sufficient to carry three days of clothing - as we will be resupplied on the rest days. Routes are challenging, but non-technical and doable for a moderately fit hiker.

• Option 2: Do the first week “Peaks of the Balkans” trek only - 6 trekking stages. You will need to arrive into Tirana, Albania on Saturday, September 26 by midday and can depart Tirana, Albania after midday on Sunday, October 4. This loop trek will begin and end in north Albania, traveling through Kosovo, and south Montenegro en route. There will be one rest day mid- route near Lake Plav in Montenegro.

• Option 3: Do the second week “Southeast Albania” trek only - 5 trekking stages and two scenic, cultural/historical rest days. You will need to arrive into Tirana, Albania on Sunday, October 4 by midday at the latest and can depart Albania on either Monday, October 12 or Tuesday, October 13. This trekking route will begin in Permet, Albania and conclude when we hike in together to finish at the Korce Adventure Center in downtown Korce, Albania.

• Trek registration payment covers all lodging, breakfasts, internal transport, and tour guides for whatever option you choose. Participants are responsible to cover lunches, dinners, snacks, incidentals, and optional gratuities.

Registration and Payment

In order to become an official participant in the Love Spain Fall 2026 Balkan Trek, everyone must register and pay below.  Scroll down on the registration filling in all items as you go.  Once you have completed the registration, proceed to make your payment.  

The total per person cost of the full Love Spain Fall 2026 Balkan Trek beginning on September 26, 2026 and ending on October 12 is 1,390 euros. In addition, there are two shorter options - the first half only, which costs 695 euros, or the second half only which also costs 695 euros.  

All payments are fully refundable until September 1, 2026 after which point they become fully nonrefundable, though they are transferable to another person. Please ensure you have trip insurance that covers unexpected or unplanned cancellation after the trip registration deadline. The final registration deadline is September 1, 2026.

These prices do not include a 6% credit card processing fee, which is also required if paying by credit card.  Payment covers all internal Balkan travel during the trip (with the small exceptions noted below), vehicle backup, lodging, and breakfasts during the entirety of the trip starting from lodging on the night of September 26, 2026 and ending with breakfast on October 12, 2026. Lodging will normally be comfortable with a night or two camping. Rooms may vary from doubles to group sharing.

Payment does not cover international travel, lunches, dinners, tips, snacks, drinks, entrance fees, and incidentals.  Payment will not cover anyone’s transport to the airport at the end of your trip. In all cases, we will work with you to help ensure you choose ideal flights for both arrival and departure at the beginning and end of your trip to ensure your transitions are as smooth and easy, and upon request, advise you so that your international travel is as cheap and comfortable as possible. Participants should fly into Tirana, Albania arriving on September 26 by noon at the latest, and should depart no earlier than October 12 if doing the full trip or second half only. If doing the first half only, participants may depart from Tirana, Albania after noon on October 4.

Please note that you may also pay by wire transfer, which could save you some money as the fees, especially on Wise.com are less than the credit card transaction fee.
